Okay, let me start by saying that I had noooooooo idea who Melanie Martinez was up until about 2-3 months ago. I was scrolling down my feed on instagram and Betsey Johnson regramed a picture of Melanie with her ice-cream cone purse. I saw the picture and thought it was super cute! So being the stalker I am I went to Melanie’s instagram (littlebodybigheart) and found myself stalking her every picture. I actually had my hair just like hers a few years ago, and was hooked on her instagram and became a follower.
I saw her post things about her new album Dollhouse a few times, but never actually listened to it or any thing. I thought she might sound like Jeffree Star, or the Millionairs…you know scene/emo music, but it wasn’t until last week that I finally gave it a shot. I youtubed Melanie Martinez Dollhouse, and the video was super trippy and I could not look away! And her voice!! I was blown away, it reminded me of Lana Del Rey, but raspier in a good way. Pretty soon I saw that she was a contestant on The Voice (this happens when you’re a college kid with no TV or time to watch it if you did). I went through her covers, and was obsessed with her version of Bulletproof! I still haven’t listened to all over her album, but it’s definitely on the alternative side compared to her songs on The Voice. Based on what I’ve listened to so far and some of the tittles, it deff seems like a dark and full of soul kind of album…..something many of her fans on the show might not be used to.

From my instagram stalking I can see she’s always been super awesome! But on a relevant note, her style on The Voice was very innocent and mod like, and has progressed into a more doll/lolita look. Her signature look includes her two toned hair and huge bow on her head.
